Frequently asked questions

Everything about applying to the RIAS fund: who can apply, what we support, how much and when.

Frequently asked questions about the RIAS Fund 2026–2027.

1. Who can apply for a RIAS Fund grant?

IHE Delft alumni can apply for financial support to turn their water and sanitation knowledge into practical solutions in their home countries. The fund supports new initiatives that address local water-related challenges and help alumni make a tangible impact in their communities.

2. What types of projects does the RIAS Fund support?

The RIAS Fund supports three types of activities: feasibility studies, pilot projects and initiatives to scale up existing activities. Your proposal should address a clearly defined problem, explain who will benefit, and demonstrate what makes your approach innovative and how it can deliver measurable results.

3. How much funding can I receive, and what can the money be used for?

Grants range from € 1,000 to € 3,000 per project. This seed funding can be used for materials, personnel and promotional activities. The grant is intended to support projects for a maximum period of one year.

Applicants are also encouraged to contribute their own time, money or other resources to demonstrate commitment to the project.

4. How do I apply, and what is the deadline?

Complete the digital RIAS Application Form 2026–2027 and email it to the IHE Delft RIAS liaison officer at m.kusumaningrum@un-ihe.org. Only the official RIAS Application Form is accepted. The deadline is 1 February 2027.

5. What happens if my project is selected?

The RIAS committee and IHE Delft specialists will review the proposals. Successful applicants will be informed by email before 15 April 2027, and funding is expected to become available from 16 April 2027.

Grant recipients must share a short online project presentation, provide a one-page progress update with relevant photos or video, and submit a brief final evaluation with supporting visual material.

Involving a local Rotary Club and other relevant partners is encouraged, as this can help strengthen your project and support its future expansion.
